PRODUCTION

How the Canton barrel is Produced
Canton Cooperage Premium American Oak Wine Barrels are made from extended air-dried white oak which is cut in our own stave mills.
By picking the best and oldest woods, we blend the oaks creating a consistent product that customers the world over have come to know and appreciate.
From our oak wood sources in Kentucky and Indiana, we obtain the tightest-grained logs in these and surrounding states. The staves and heading are then air-dried where the abundant rainfall and the sharp contrast between hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters ensures full seasoning of the oak.
Once the oak has achieved optimum air drying, we then toast the barrels slowly over oak chip fires to attain a deep, penetrating, custom toast level.
Our customers can select toast levels of Light, Medium, Medium Plus, or Heavy to meet their own particular needs. Consistency of the toast level is assured through time and temperature monitoring. Toasted heads are also available upon request.
As they are assembled, each barrel is inspected by our entire staff of coopers. This multi-step process ensures quality before shipment to our valued customers. If any service is needed after delivery, all barrels are covered by Canton Cooperage’s one-year full warranty.
